11 September: Catalonia National day. The Catalan countries is an oppressed nation. From Salses to Guardamar, and from Fraga to l’Alguer, we are Catalans, today and forever, and we want the independence of the whole nation now divided among four different states and Autonomous regions.
We remember today those patriots who died on 11 September 1714, when they were defending the city of Barcelona against King Phillip’s V army. We want to honour their names, Rafel de Casanovas, Conseller en cap, and the rest of soldiers who lost their lives for Catalonia and the people’s liberties.
It’s a hundred years since the Catalan flag with a star was first used. We want to remember this centenary of the symbol of the Catalan rights and the independence of an old nation, whose people want to be free, like any other nation around the world.
Today we just want to say: INDEPENDENCE.
