Next Friday,  30th  January, during the radio programme Lletres Ebrenques (Antena Caro Roquetes, 96.0 fm), Emigdi Subirats  will interview Mr. Ernest Benach i Pasqual, President of the Parliament of Catalonia. It goes without saying that we feel very proud of having him in a programme like ours, which wants to promote our literature and the use of our language.   With  President Benach we are going to talk about literature, new technologies, and about his blog, which has become one of the most important political ones in the country.
Ernest Benach i Pasqual was born in Reus (Baix Camp). In 1980 he founded Nacionalistes d’esquerra (Left nationalists). During these years he showed great  cívil commitment  and he was one of the founders of the excursionist group La Mulassa, and got involved with the  Catalan Boy Scouts and took part in the General Assembly of World Scout Parlamentary Union. He is also a passionate casteller. In 1991, he founded la Colla castellera Xiquets de Reus, and he has been the president and cap de colla (manager).
In 1987 he joined the campaign “Call To ERC” and joined the party. He also became councillor of his hometown.
In 1992 he was elected deputy to the Parliament of Catalonia. On December 5, 2003 he was elected President of the Catalan Parliament.
