Vida d’institut… de nou (10)

Carta als meus  i a les meues alumnes de 1r de Batxillerat C

Hi boys and girls,
Most of you already know I’m keen on writing letters and poems to my students. I do enjoy writing down my dearest feelings or worries and letting you know  once and then.
The first term is over, and it’s high time we should be thinking about our own doings. It was  told in June I’d be teaching a Batxillerat group this year. I thought it was great. Firstly, because it was my first chance to be teaching a non-compulsory course. But I was looking forward to it above all, because I’d be teaching quite a few pupils who I’m really fond of and have a close relationship with, as I had been their tutor last year. Besides, I  knew quite a few other classmates, who I had  got on really well with, as I had been their teacher in other groups as well or had met at school. All in all, it was quite a challenge for me.
During last term I was highly motivated with my work, you know. I was trying to come up with all kind of activities for your learning.   I usually make you work hard in my lessons, and  try to take the most of  time.
Most of you know me quite well and trust me, and that’s just wonderful. You take for granted I’ll always be around if you need any help.
I’m proud of the way some of you have been working. As for marks and work,  there have been some very good students: Ramon, Èlia, Àlex P., Gerard (and others) have been  highly motivated,  learning a lot and  behaved wonderfully.  And they have not missed lessons!!! I whould also like to mention Nico Gatto who has been doing an effort in order to improve his level.  As for Nico Serra, one of the students who I’ve always felt closer, what should I say? He could do better, mate, and you know it!  And my dear Jose, Laia E. and Jordi, who are so tender and hardworking, and never play truant… And Ander and Nathan who are always listening… (close your mouths for a while, darlings). And Dani, whose level of English is quite good, he should work much harder, though…
I should have some words for Ignasi, one of the boys I’ve also had a closer relationship, who has just  given up studying. I hope you’ll be happy and find your place wherever you go. It’s been nice to have met you, known you…
It goes without saying that some lessons have been disappointing, as there were few people in class (truancy…), others may fall asleep, while quite a few weren’t paying atention to my teaching. That’s the way the cookie crumbles!!!
I’m the kind of teacher who enjoys being near my students. This is how I understand my role as a teacher: intense lessons, high learning, but always talking and listening to my students. I’m sure we’ll keep working hard during this second term, as some of you might turn a new leaf!
Have fun during Christmas. A time for the family and friend, for good eating (not too much drinking), presents, no teachers, no school, no homework, facebook, messenger, personal relationships, friendship and happiness.
I wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy new year…
Lots of love,
Emigdi
