Diu El President Jordi Pujol que si el Tribunal Constitucional tomba l’ immersió lingüística estarem davant d’un “casus belli”. Mentrestant a Madrid, l’ aliança entre el PP i el PSOE – inclosos els diputats del PSC -, impedeix l’aprovació d’una moció per tal d’instar al Congrés a normalitzar l’ús del català a la cambra. El mateix ZP que havia defensat l’ús de llengua catalana a les institucions europees, ha impedit amb els seus diputats la normalització de l’ús de les llengües oficials diferents a la castellana a les Corts Espanyoles.
