Orgull i no discriminació: també a Europa
Davant la inminència del naixement del meu segon fill aquests díes prioritzo l’atenció a la família per davant d’altres qüestions. Tanmateix, hi ha esdeveniments que segueixo amb especial atenció, com per exemple la manifestació d’ahir a Barcelona amb motiu del Dia de l’Orgull LGBT. Confesso que m’hauria agradat que el meu fill naixés un 28 de juny, per la càrrega simbòlica que té la data, però es veu que ha decidit esperar fins el final per treure el cap. Sigui com sigui, consultant els mitjans he pogut constatar que, un cop més, Barcelona s’ha volcat en la reclamació de drets i llibertats, també, pel col.lectiu LGBT. Així com d’altres ciutats europees. Així, per exemple, des de l’intergrup pro Drets LGBT al Parlament Europeu hem felicitat la República Txeca per haver celebrat enguany, per primer cop, el Dia de l’Orgull LGBT, concretament a Brno. Malauradament, no podem dir el mateix de totes. Així, hem hagut de fer pública també la nostra preocupació en relació a les enormes dificultats que els organitzadors tenien per dur a terme la commemoració a Zagreb, capital de Croàcia (país que es troba a les portes d’entrar a la UE). I és que, dins i for a de la UE encara hi ha molts governs locals i nacionals que, literalment, veten la (segueix…)
proclamació pública dels drets i llibertats LGBT, i, quan no els veten,
posen totes les traves i dificultats possibles per tal que no se
celebrin (això quan no són la mateixa policia que provoca els
aldarulls, com va passar a Rússia l’any passat). Els darrers anys he assistit regularment,
per exemple, a Riga, Letònia, un dels llocs més incòmodes, però a la
vegada on fa més falta, reivindicar certs drets. Enguany no hi he pogut
assistir per la raó esmentada més amunt, però la tònica ha estat
similar a la dels altres anys. Per altra banda, aquesta commemoració ha
coincidit enguany amb un altre debat a escala europea prou
significatiu: el de la Directiva Horitzontal sobre no Discriminacions,
la qual corria el risc de quedar encallada, especialment per l’oposició
de determinats governs a considerar-hi les discriminacions per motius
d’orientació sexual. Per aquest motiu els responsables dels diferents intergrups al Parlament Europeu afectats per aqeusta directiva, entre ells l’Intergrup pro-drets LGBT del qual en sóc vicepresident, hem fet pública aquesta setmana la següent nota:

“Five Intergroups of the European Parliament support decision on a
horizontal Directive.”
The Presidents of 5 Intergroups of the European Parliament have signed a
declaration stating their strong support for the decision of the European
Commission to bring forward a comprehensive anti-discrimination Directive.
The Presidents of the Gay and Lesbian Right´s Intergroup, Disability Intergroup,
Age Intergroup, Trade Unions Intergroup and Religious Working Group also called
upon the Council of the European Union to speed up the ratification of the new
Directive and end hierarchy of discrimination in Europe once and for all.

Lesbian Rights.
19 June 2008, Strasbourg
We strongly support the decision of the European Commission to bring forward an
all inclusive anti-discrimination Directive.
We are eagerly looking forward to the publication of proposal by the
Commission, which will be carefully scrutinized to ensure that it reflects our
views.
We call upon the Council of the European Union to speed up the ratification
process of the Directive to end the hierarchy of discrimination in Europe and
strengthen the protection of European citizens.

Dins el meu món familiar i amistats, el mes de juny és el mes amb més dates per felicitar aniversaris. Espero que el teu segon fill no passi del dia 30!!! Enhorabona i Us desitjo tot el millor ! Ja veig que fent vida familiar, encara tens temps d’anar explicant ‘què passa a Brussel.les ‘ i t’ho agraïm, estem o no estem d’acord, però tenim una informació més aclaridora i fàcil d’entendre. Quan es posaran ‘les piles’ a Europa per presionar a Than Shwe d’una vegada per totes ? És tant fort el poder econòmic del gas, petroli, opi, teka, maragdes ?? La no- violència sembla no és notícia de primera plana, però és efectiva.
el dia 30, serà com la meua filla, que demà fa 7 anys.
