En el marc de l’informe que estic preparant
per al Parlament Europeu en relació a Crisi i Gènere, estic consultant una sèrie
de documents que, per ells mateixos, em semblen prou importants. A hores d’ara
no es tracta d’inventar res, em sembla, sinó de posar en pràctica moltes de les
coses que nombrosos grups d’experts i expertes ja han proposat. Aquesta és la
meva feina. Així doncs, en aquest procés, em sembla interessant compartir amb
vosaltres algunes d’aquestes idees i publicacions, com les que podeu trobar,
per exemple, al lloc web de Women Watch: Information and Resources on
Gender Equality and Women Empowerment, vinculat a les Nacions Unides.

Considero particularment interessants les dues reflexions següents, les quals posen molt bé de manifest l’amplitud del problema:

“The financial crisis is expected to have
serious, widespread impacts on the real economy and particularly on the lives
of people already in poverty. Historically, economic recessions have placed a
disproportionate burden on women. Women are more likely than men to be in
vulnerable jobs, to be under-employed or without a job, to lack social
protection, and to have limited access to and control over economic and
financial resources. Policy responses to the financial crisis must take gender
equality perspectives into account to ensure, for example, that women as well
as men can benefit from employment creation and investments in social
infrastructure.

both developed and developing countries will be particularly affected by job
cuts, lose of livelihoods, increased responsibilities in all spheres of their

viable solutions and upholding human rights standards.”

The economic crisis is expected to increase the number of unemployed women by
up to 22 million in 2009, the International Labour Office (ILO) says in its
annual Global Employment Trends for Women report (GET), adding that the global
jobs crisis is expected to worsen sharply with the deepening of the recession
in 2009.
