El 1994, cansat de l’especulació immobiliària i la incomoditat quotidiana, vaig allunyar-me nord enllà, on diuen que la gent és culta, rica, lliure, desvetllada i gironina…
El llibre que m’he estat llegint les dues darreres setmanes m’ha reconciliat amb la meva ciutat. Agradable de llegir, recuperant històries conegudes i desconegudes, el periodista barceloní, com cada barceloní, amb una història d’amor-odi particular, m’ha tornat a què la “gran encisera”, amb la seva història de no victòries i obstinades derrotes, m’ha retornat al món de l’orgull “xava”.
A la manera d’una història oficiosa, tot posant de relleu l’esperit rebel i inconformista, alhora que resignat i contradictori, Martínez ens parla de la Barcelona oficiosa. La ciutat orgullosa que podria haver estat una ciutat estat, que podria haver estat capital d’un país, que esdevingué l’indret on es féu la revolució més desconcertant del món, i que ara és una no-capital d’un no-estat.
