DON DeLILLO…estremidor!
A aquestes alçades i aquestes edats costa de trobar llibres -sobretot contemporanis- que ens facin fer un sup al cor. Eps, de tant en tant passa. Ara mateix. Amb Don DeLillo. Els nordamericans…
…tenen la virtut d’obrir-me camins nous quan ja començo a pensar que tot és molt fressat. Em va passar amb Cormac McCarthy, però tanta violència m’aclapara: no sempre tenim el dia per pair depèn de què. Abans, anys ha, m’havia colpit John Irving i més tard Chuck Palahniuk (crec que es deu escriure així). Ara m’ha passat amb aquest estrany Punt Omega, publicat en català per Amsterdam (en traducció d’Ainara Munt). I res, que estic estremit (i és un dir). La novel.la passa en un museu de Nova York i en una caseta de vacances en un desert de Califòrnia. O no. La novel.la passa dins el cap dels personatges. Del narrador. De fet, és una pel.lícula, un documental, que no s’arriba a filmar. I la contemplació -sí, sí, contemplació- d’una pel.lícula, Psicosi, a càmera lentíssima. Els que hi entenen diran que allà hi ha “una reflexió sobre l’espai i el temps”. El protagonista del documental que no es farà diu que al desert hi ha “només distàncies i prou, ni vistes ni línies de visió, només distàncies.” I també diu que és allà per deixar de parlar…” Aquí el temps avança més a poc a poc. El temps esdevé cec. El paisatge, el sento, més que no pas el veig. No sé mai quin dia és. No sé mai si ha passat un minut o una hora. Aquí no em faig vell.” En fi, que la novel.la també porta el lector a un lloc sense vistes ni línies de visió, a un lloc on no ens fem vells.
