HIMNES CENSURATS

Auden i Casals no reberen cap gratitud i encara pateixen injusta censura.

Eagerly, musician.
Sweep your string,
So we may sing.
Elated, optative,
Our several voices
Interblending,
Playfully contending,
Not interfering
But co-inhering,
For all within
The cincture
of the sound,
Is holy ground
Where all are brothers,
None faceless Others,
et mortals
beware Of words,
for With words we lie,
Can say peace
When we mean war,
Foul thought speak-fair
And promise falsely,
But song is true:
Let music for peace
Be the paradigm,
For peace means
to change At
the right time,
as the World-Clock
Goes Tick-and Tock.
So may the story
Of our human city
Presently move
Like music, when
Begotten notes
New notes beget
Making the flowing
Of time a growing
Till what it could be,
At last it is,
Where even sadness
Is a form of gladness,
Where fate is freedom,
Grace and Surprise.

  4. The anthem of United Nations remains censored (per corregir)
    Jaume d’Escriu | dimarts, 2 de desembre de 2008 | 18:34h
The past 18 November, in opening act of the dome of Miquel Barceló in
the Room of the Human Rights of Geneva, the agenda of the day announced
The Hymn of the United Nations. Those who knew the work, known as The
Hymn of Peace, we knew that it was impossible. The room, pressed in
with 700 persons, did not allow to squeeze in an orchestra and a choir,
how it requires the composition. When he arrived the moment, we remove
the slip of the pen: a cellist interpreted The singing of the birds,
    melody that popularized Pau Casals.

The confusion made me curious. Being an official function, not to have
been planned the anthem of the UN, forcing the protocol to use the
hymns of Spain and Switzerland (as summoning states and host). It was
not like this. Wrong The organizers had been wrong? I have inquired and
the conclusion is a surprise that

capitalized, in my view, is demanding reparation! Because the
relationship of Pau Casals to the UN deserves a monograph, I was
limited to the basic axes to solve the mystery detected. In 1963, Pau
Casals premiere the oratory The Crib, as a contribution to world peace,
dedicated “to the 18th anniversary of the creation of the UN and the
25th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.”

Years later, to commemorate its 25th anniversary, the then UN Secretary
General, U Thant, asked for Pau Casals in the composition of the
anthem to the United Nations on a letter that, subject to collect
Preamble of the Charter of the United Nations, had been entrusted to
Wystan Hugh Auden, the poet considered the most influential and
important in the English language from TS Eliot. Once completed, the
work was tested and, two months before the Casals did 95 years

old, 24th October 1971 at the UN headquarters in New York, the
orchestra and chorus of the Festival Casals, guided by their teacher,
presented as a world premiere the anthem of the United Nations in front
of delegates from around the world who rose to applaud. Then go to the
Casals assistants in English to make a proclamation excited identity (
“I am a Catalan!”) Before the cello interpreted “the singing of birds”,
the Catalan song that he made universal.

The event made history, however, never again should not be interpreted
the anthem at the United Nations. From that day the mystery begins. As
well as the anthem and officially released edited by Alexander Broude
Inc. New York has disappeared? As well as the anthem remains inside the
arena as the rosemary flower? As well as the site of the United Nations
describes the work of Casals and Auden as “an” anthem, but says it has
no official anthem? Who and why he ordered carry-over of that land
poetic and musical composition? Do not need too much research to
clarify what happened. It is common knowledge that the words of Casals,
exile, evil-you-touch-plague and a kick in the stomach for the so
called “open democratic” of Fraga Lopez Castiella and Bravo, Franco
ministers who claims to renovators. There is no official version, but
the evidence reveal that, with diplomatic moves, Spain did sewer work
    to disallow the anthem.

For his part, Auden, the author of the letter, had part of the
International Brigades during the Spanish uncivil war. Even he
published a long poem, Spain 1937, which was sold across Europe to
raise funds for medical expenses of the Republican side, where he
drived an ambulance. In addition, Auden lived with the American poet
Chester Kallmann says in ostentation of the homosexual condition. In
short, the government Franco hated the two authors of the anthem. To
round it, in Britain it went well of maneuvering Spain. The British
Auden considered a traitor because, in 1939, he left to the United
States, and adopted the nationality. The poet, disappointed, showed
critical of his country for not having defended the Republican cause in
Spain and, although, in 1956, Oxford awarded him a professorship in
poetry, the British will not forgive the desertion.

The hidden performance of Spain to silence the anthem coincided with
the death, almost simultaneously, by the authors. Auden died on 29
September 1973 and Casals, 23 October of that year. Who argue? Auden
and Casals not received any gratitude and still suffer unjust
censorship. Must be the only known case in history that is killed an
hymn commissioned, edited and released. It is clear that the Spanish
government must repair, but the UN is responsible for having
commissioned the work, be it officially, and then have it buried,
censored, muted and banned reaching unmentionable pressures against the
    authors.

The relays at the head of the UN have done that, 37 years after the
ignominy, ignored the story. The antics of the former managers have
been replaced by pure ignorance of the current.  It is not about their
having made the big eyes or having daydreamed. November 18 this year,
the United Nations in Geneva, nobody went to search the PARTS of the anthem that had been announced and no one admitted the
error, but “the singing of birds” was to unmask the evidence. The facts
are as described and demand fair redress. If nothing else, the good
name of Casals and Auden. For this purpose, in the hope that the
politicians in making good use, I have built the article.

    The original version
