Subject: Design It Shelter Competition Submission
From: foundation@guggenheim.org

Dear JOSEP BLESA,

Thank you for your submission to the Guggenheim’s Design It: Shelter Competition. After carefully reviewing your shelter design, we have determined your submission did not follow the project specifications: www.guggenheim.org/new-york/education/sackler-center/design-it-shelter/shelter-requirements

One or more of the following reasons may have contributed to your shelter not meeting the competition specifications:

  • Shelter was larger than 100 sf (9.3 sm) (the interior/sheltered space)
  • Shelter was taller than 12 ft (3.6 m) (the entire shelter)
  • Submitted an incorrect file type
  • Shelter was not geo-located in Google Earth correctly
  • Shelter contained running water, gas, or electricity
  • URL/link to Google 3D Warehouse did not work
  • SKP file was too large and did not upload into or download from Google 3D Warehouse
  • Submitted the shelter via email after the competition closed (including the 24 hour extension)

Of the nearly 1200 submissions we received, approximately half of the submitted shelters met the competition guidelines. We realize that many of you invested substantial time and creativity on your submissions, and we could not be more thrilled with your enthusiasm and engagement in the project.

Since we are only able to post the submissions that met the requirements of the competition on our Web site, we would still like to display and share your shelter with the world. Therefore, we have created a GUGGENHEIM AND GOOGE DESIGN IT SHELTER COMPETITION FLICKR GROUP for all participants in the competition. We ask that YOU upload, name, describe, and tag your shelter images and your YouTube Video here: www.flickr.com/groups/designitshelter/

To join the Flickr group:

  • Sign up as a member of Flickr or log into your existing account
  • Upload your shelter images/video to your account
  • Add your uploaded images/video to the Design It Shelter Competition Group

We sincerely thank you for your participation, and encourage you to visit the competition Web site (www.guggenheim.org/shelter) on September 7–October 10 to cast your vote for one of the ten finalists for the People’s Prize. The winners of both the People’s Prize and the Juried Prize will be announced on October 21, the 50th Anniversary of the Guggenheim Museum.

Sincerely,
The Design It Team
