Great city, at the same time, small town that.
People’s dream and it is calculated,

that it loves itself and it gets loose.

?

City worried and doubly loyal,

four bars make it rich and universal,

only one yellow and two red, local;
piercing it hands and morality.

 

?City ambiguous and simple

As complicated as the sky

So, as exalted as the sea.

As captive as a root, and so,
as free as a star.

 

City open and so closed,

city worried and so empty,

so Catalan and, Castilian’s mass,

too much Spaniard, where the ugliness

can be beautiful it.

And the sovereignty smiles hungry.

?Conscious and frivolous city,

from sunset in the dawn.

Three towers project it shady,

A skyscrapers tower

on the twentieth century lifting us.

City always reinvented.

 

?Animal and human city symbol,

amazing liberty’s clock,

and funny vegetable garden indoor.

?Sensible city, but despised people.

 

?Intelligence of bricks, stone, glass and iron,

Copula and dome of Valencian warriors,
oven of embers and string of measure

of the Catalonia’s freedom.

     Ciutat gran i alhora tan petita

     tan innocent i tan astuta

     que se somnia i es calcula

     que s’estima i es deslliga

    

     Ciutat atribolada i doblement lleial 

     quatre barres la fan rica i universal

     una groga i dues vermelles, local

     foradant-li mans i moral

    

     Ciutat ambigua i senzilla

     tan complicada com el cel

     tan excel·lida com la mar

     tan captiva com una rel

     tan lliure com un estel

    

     Ciutat oberta i tan tancada

     ciutat capficada i tan vana

     tan catalana i massa acastellanada

     on la lletjor pot ser bella

     i la sobirania somriu de gana

     Ciutat conscient i frívola

     de la posta al trenc d’alba

     tres gratacels la projecten ombrívola

     una torre al segle XXI ens enlairava

     Ciutat sempre reinventada

     Ciutat animal i humana

     bell rellotge de llibertat

     i bell hort enteixinat

     Ciutat assenyada, però menyspreada

     Intel·ligència de maons i pedra

     còpula-cúpula de valencians de brega

     forn de brases i forc de mesura

     de la llibertat de Catalunya.
