* Refused
Refused és una banda més de les bandes i musics que exporta la freda Suècia, un país que exporta centenars de grups de tot tipus. El que està clar és que si comparem la cultura musical del nostre país amb la majoria de països europeus podem afirmar que la cultura musical d’aquí fot pena, no cal donar-hi voltes, és així. Però és possible que per sobre de la resta de països, tenint en compte el número d’habitants i els grups que apareixen a l’escena internacional (no tinc dades, ho dic pel que observo personalment), Suècia destaqui per sobre de la resta. No conec Suècia, no hi he anat mai i no se com funciona l’ensenyament musical ni la seva política al respecte però és de suposar que a la música en aquell país se li dona la importància que és mereix, si no és així no ho entenc, potser és el clima, els paisatges enblanquinats, la latitud, les saunes, no ho sé, però no ho crec. Podríem tenir la idea que tots els grups i musics que sorgeixen són compositors i intèrprets de música clàssica, i sí que n’hi ha molts, però també hi ha grups de tot tipus: música pop, metal (n’hi ha una bona fornada), hardcore, jazz, rock, cantautors, etc.
Refused és una banda de hardcore formada el 1992 per uns joves suecs inquiets i amb ganes de fer coses, els dos components que sempre han estat a la banda són el cantant Dennis Lyxzén i el bateria David Sandström. El cantant Dennis Lyxzén és força famós al seu país i és un sex symbol que porta de corcoll a moltes jovenetes sueques, després de que el 1998 Refused es dissolgués, Dennis va formar més bandes: "The (International) Noise Conspiracy", "93 Million Miles", "TEST" i "The Lost Patrol Band", a més d’altres projectes. A les lletres de Dennis Lyxzén hi ha una forta càrrega política, lletres revolucionaries i de crítica social, sense caure gaire en tòpics. De fet, sembla que un dels motius, entre altres, pels quals Refused va desapàreixer van ser les diferències entre els seus components per aquest fet. Després Dennis va formar "The (International) Noise Conspiracy" on cada una de les cançons del grup són manifestos revolucionaris.
Personalment considero l’últim treball de Refused, "The Shape of Punk to Come", una obra mestra moderna, potser és exagerar però per mi és així. Un treball rodó del principi al final, més treballat i meditat que els anteriors i gairebé un experiment hardcorià, realment sorprenent, increïble. Va ser un disc de comiat, ja el van fer amb aquesta intenció, un comiat, però, del tot digne, amb el cap ben alt.
"New Noise" és una de les cançons d’aquest disc, tota una declaració:
