L’eix de Bracons, ja és als mapes. Una cosa tant senzilla, que sembla quasi normal, no ho era fins ara degut a la classificació del tram entre Sant Esteve d’en Bas i Vic com a carretera comarcal, fora de la xarxa viària bàsica que comprèn les principals carreteres del país.

La inclusió d’aquesta obra que ha obert les portes de la Garrotxa cap a la Catalunya interior a la xarxa bàsica de carreteres de Catalunya, era un plantejament d’inici en la construcció de l’eix, però també un compromís de Convergència i Unió i dels Governs de la Generalitat dels presidents Pujol i Mas per posar Olot i la Garrotxa als mapes viaris peninsulars, lluny del que altres formacions, quan han tingut responsabilitats de Govern, han intentat amb Bracons. Més que potenciar la via, fent-la servir de passarel·la per a nous visitants i noves empreses, i per tant, eina de creixement econòmic per la nostra comarca, han intentat amagar-la.Que fos una via poc transitada.

Un raonament gens lògic per a una obra que ha costat desenes de milers d’euros, construïda per connectar la Catalunya Central amb la Garrotxa, l’Empordà i la resta d’Europa i que s’ha fet cuidant al més mínim detall l’impacte ambiental.Una forma de planificar que s’ha de tenir en compte, també, per les futures variants d’Olot i les Preses. Essent coherents amb la manca de recursos econòmics, però exigents.Conservant el millor dels actius que tenim a la Garrotxa: els valors ambientals i culturals del paisatge.

A partir d’ara, si algú del centre d’Espanya, de Portugal o de qualsevol punt d’Europa agafa un mapa de carreteres podrà trobar una nova via per arribar còmodament a la Garrotxa. Una nova porta d’entrada d’aire amb regust a ser al món.

Biografia

Sóc olotí i estic casat amb l’Assumpta, una noia de l’Espluga de Francolí. Ara, vivim amb els nostres fills prop de la Sagrada Família de Barcelona.

Sóc enginyer de camins i he exercit la professió prestant serveis a l’administració, com a professional liberal i, sobre tot, com a professor d’urbanisme a la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.

Vaig viure a Olot fins l’any 1996 i vaig tenir la immensa sort de ser alcalde d’aquesta fantàstica ciutat durant 12 anys. Després, el President Pujol em va nomenar conseller, primer de Medi Ambient i, després, de Política Territorial i Obres Públiques.

Sóc de Convergència des del 1977 i, en el període 2001-2004, en vaig ser Secretari General adjunt. Ara mateix, passo part de la setmana a Madrid, intentant fer sentir la veu del catalanisme polític al Congrés dels Diputats.

Com a enginyer i com a polític, m’he passat mitja vida defensant les infraestructures que Catalunya necessita. Ara ho faig també des del Cercle d’Infraestructures, una fundació privada que hem creat per reflexionar sobre el paper de les infraestructures a la nostra societat post-industrial.

Ja us podeu imaginar que m’agrada escapar-me, sempre que puc, a Olot a veure la meva gent i a somniar en un país tant verd com ple de progrés econòmic i social per tothom.
