Ahir vaig tindre l’oportunitat d’assistir a la presentació del Centre Català de Negocis (CCN) a Vilafranca del Penedès. El CCN és una associació empresarial (fonamentalment d’autònoms i petits i mitjans empresaris) amb pretensions d’esdevindre un lobby de pressió sobre els polítics per assolir un objectiu clar: la declaració d’Independència per part del Parlament de Catalunya. Per fi, un grup d’empresaris decideix posicionar-se clarament en favor de l’única eixida viable per al país, tot desansant un argument central: l’econòmic. Si aquesta iniciativa aconsegueix prendre volada, definitivament podrem dir que la cosa va de veres.

 

Perquè qui pensa que sense el suport majori de la classe empresarial els polítics podran tirar endavant un gest tan compromès? El famós eslògan d’Independència i Socialisme ja li anava bé a Espanya, de la mateixa manera que els adolescents revolucionaris que llançaven cocktails molotov farcia d’arguments el discurs anticatalanista. Els que tenim clar que volem un país normal, equiparable al ventall europeu i amb un aprofundiment democràtic real, sabem que també ens calen els empresaris. Perquè al cap i a la fi, vivim en un món capitalista i les alternatives que se’ns ofereixen... quines són? El socialisme? Quin? El de Cuba, país desenvolupat i respectuós amb els drets humans com cap altre? O el de la Unió Soviètica? Que el capitalisme presenta nombrosos problemes és innegable. Però quina alternativa viable ens hi presenten els detractors furibunds?

 

El sistema capitalista es pot gestionar millor o pitjor. Es poden limitar els seus defectes o accentuar-los. I tant des de la dreta, com des de l’esquerra. La dreta valenciana ens ha ensenyat durant els darrers quinze anys com es pot ensorrar un país tot i fer creure que vivim en el millor des móns possibles. L’esquerra de Zapatero està a punt d’etzibar-nos el colp de gràcia. Ahir, però, els senyors del CCN ens van apuntar, per exemple, el creixement fulgurant del PIB irlandès en menys de dues dècades mitjançant la posada en marxa d’un model econòmic propi i amb mesures com –oh, Déu meu– la baixada de l’impost de societats. Una pèrfida decisió afavoridora de rics que, curiosament, va provocar l’atracció de capitals foranis i el creixement del teixit empresarial i de l’ocupació. Sembla que els ha funcionat bastant bé.

 

Ahir, per tant, vam escoltar la veu dels empresaris, un dels quals va afirmar que havia decidit presentar-se (nom, fills, empresa, nombre de traballador, etc.) a cara oberta, malgrat oferir serveis principalment per a l’administració pública i exposar-se, en conseqüència, a perdre’n concessions. Han superat la por però adverteixen que tampoc no són suïcides –no sé si podríem dir el mateix des defensors de la Independència i el Socialisme.

 

Així, el CCN es dedica a recollir dades econòmiques i exposar-les a la societat i als polítics. Un dels temes que ens expliquen és l’espoli fiscal que sofreix Catalunya –tots els Països Catalans, caldria afegir-hi. Malgrat tindre’n un coneixement previ, fa feredat comprovar de nou les dades, algunes de noves. Indigna la comparació entre les polítiques de balances fiscals de l’Estat espanyol (el dèficit fiscal català ascendia el 2006 al 10,2% del PIB) i d’altres països, com ara Alemanya (que no en permet més d’un 4%) o els EUA (un 2,5%). I tot a major glòria de la “solidaritat” que, com encertadament ens van recordar, implica una voluntarietat, i en cap cas una imposició. Tot plegat, el contingent estadístic que ofereix el CCN aclapara el més indolent, i ha estat capaç de pertorbar l’espanyolista català més recalcitrant.

 

L’empresariat ha de ser una de les potes fortes del moviment independentista, i potser se’l trobava a faltar. Benvinguda, doncs, aquesta aportació nova que, sens dubte, farà bon camí. Necessitem un empresariat fort i convençut per a un Estat possible. I ha de ser plenament conscient que és el país qui li aporta la riquesa, i que és al país a qui li l’ha de retornar. Són molt necessaris, perquè encara no conec cap país d’esquerres. Al nostre país hi haurà dretes i esquerres, empresaris i treballadors, funcionaris –esperem que els indispensables– i autònoms.

 

El que necessitem és que siguen bons, uns i altres, que facen bé la feina, de la mateixa manera que hem de construir una societat responsable, tolerant, treballadora i plenament democràtica, amb uns polítics que la representen dignament. Llavors votarem, esquerra o dreta, i denunciarem el que calga denunciar, però també reconeixerem els encerts, d’uns i altres. Sols així farem un país més lliure i tolerant. I menys sectari, també.
