Com tots sabeu (o des de la Plataforma ens agradaria que fos així) en aquests moments Catalunya ja pot competir en 16 esports de forma oficial. Podeu veure la llista i les característiques aquí.
Un dels últims esports en què ho vam aconseguir, i segurament un dels més importants, és el rugby lliga o rugby XIII (denominació molt comú a la Catalunya Nord). És un esport molt similar al rugby union (el més desenvolupat a Catalunya i que es juga amb 15 jugadors al camp) i que a Europa es dominat per anglesos, francesos i russos.
Catalunya, a través de l'Associació Catalana de Rugby lliga va ser reconeguda l'agost del 2007 per la RLEF (Rugby league European Federation) i és membre associat juntament amb 27 països més. Aquest número demostra la importància de l'esport que tot i estar en vies de desenvolupament en molts d'aquest països, té un present molt bo i un futur envejable.
El dissabte 18 d'abril comença la primera competició oficial a Catalunya. 9 dels millors equips catalans lluitaran per aconseguir fer història i endur-se el primer campionat. Geieg, BUC, Enginyers del Poble Nou, Vic, Garrotxa, Lleida, Tarragona, Valls i Sant Cugat, els pioners del rugby lliga al nostre país. Des de la Plataforma Proseleccions Esportives Catalanes recolzem fermament l'Associació Catalana de Rugby Lliga i invitem a tothom a veure algun dels partits d'aquest espectacular esport. També us animem a fer difusió perquè com més importància tinguin els esports on Catalunya està internacionalment reconeguda més possibilitats tindrem en altres esports en què encara no ho està.
