Amb el lliurament d'aquest mes, al capítol 25, es tornem a trobar amb un altre episodi d'un personatge garlaire com un xarlatà de fira, entabanador de gent crèdula, inflat com un globus de presumpció, egoïsta fins al moll de l'os, hipòcrita i golafre: el Reverend Chadband.

Els que seguiu la novel·la recordareu que aquest sermonador modèlic va fer la seva aparició al capítol 19, lliurament del maig passat: pàgs. 228 a 237. Ni cal dir que Dickens empra a fons altre cop la seva vena satírica i ens n'ofereix unes descripcions d'una comicitat memorable.

A tall de curiositat, Dostoievski, gran lector i admirador de Dickens, s'inspirà en trets d'aquest molt irreverent predicador a l'hora de caracteritzar Foma Fomitx Opiskin, el protagonista de la seva novel·la 'Stepanxikovo i els seus habitants'.
